Today's job market is not the same as it was 10, 20, 30 years ago, esp. if you are a senior level person. Like others, I have transitioned several times in my career, some because of RIFs, some because it was time to move on, but I always had my next position (usually more senior) in a very short time (always before the severance or vacation time was exhausted. Thus, I was expecting the same when I was let go from my prior company. After 5 months of working my network and having some success, I decided to get some help with Browning. They, especially my project manager, Jerry, were tremendous. They turned a potential devasting 14 months and early retirement (which I was not ready for) into a very positive and effective period of my life.
